I often end up with multiple programs open and running at one time. This means my task bar is usually loaded with "tabs" for each program. The closest thing to a sequence you will find is they resemble the order in which they were opened, this is usually not useful to me. When programming in visual studio there may be multiple tabs for one instance of the application due to mode-less dialogs (a programming term for windows that stay open and work with or at the same time as other windows such as search dialogs in a word document). Or maybe you work with multiple word documents open at one time or even multiple instances of explorer when moving or copying files. this is especially difficult as all the tabs have the same icon.
Even though there are programs such as the Alt Tab Replacement power toy and tips that help as you navigate between programs that are open I find that this may be tedious when they are in random order.
Enter the TaskBar Shuffle application. This is a Freeware application that will allow you to simply drag and drop your program tabs on the task bar from one location to another. This way you can place them next to each other and switch back an forth with little effort. The program installs easily and had no ill effects on any of the pc's I installed on. No spyware, malware or nag screens. The best part is it is a very simple application, it does what the author claims and it does it well. You can turn the tray Icon off if desired to save space and forget about it until you want to use it.
For an application that adds simple productivity to your computing arsenal its well worth the time to download. And if you find it useful as I do I encourage you to donate to the author even a couple dollars it well worth it.
